Mini interview we did with Kazeem from The Source mag.
1. When and how did Ironlak start?
Ironlak started around 2002 but really came to life in 2004. It started because we wanted to provide writers in Australia with quality spray paint at an affordable price. Prior to Ironlak, Australian writers were paying through the nose for imported brands. We started with 10 colours and slowly built it up over time, improving our formula as we went along. After a while we started to get some interest from the USA and around June last year we started to sell paint in the USA. It's still a daily grind and it seems that shit always comes the hard way, but we never thought back then that we would ever get to the point where we could take this shit global.
2. What makes Ironlak such a good paint to "get up" with?
Rather than give you a sales pitch, I think the best response to this question comes from the feedback that we get from the writers out there; I'll quote Jaes COD from NY "It covers like butter, has a great color selection and a nice amount of pressure. It’s really good paint and it’s for writers, by writers! How can you beat that?" and Pose MSK from Chicago; "It’s crazy vibrant, has ridiculous control, and the coverage is unbeatable, point blank. Honestly just slap a pink dot on that bad boy and it’s game over. The paint is too much fun."
3. Who are some of the your favorite artists?
We are very fortunate to be able to work with many of the artists that we respect and admire. Take a look at the Family section of Ironlak.com and you'll see a list of our favourite artists from around the globe. Some other favourites are Skeme, Wane, Grey, Giant, Amaze, Nekst, Hense, Seen, Revok, Pubes, Rime, Espo, Persue and the list goes on.
4. Any thing new coming up for Ironlak Colors?
We just had a new bright chrome and tar black drop. Go get some!! We have a couple of other top secret things that we will be revealing soon, plus more limited edition artist series cans, more clothing and even some markers. Stay tuned to Ironlak.com for the reveal.

A really cool project that the gang in New Zealand are working on. Props to Askew, Berst and the rest of the crew out there for thinking outside the square. We are really excited to watch this unfold.
EPISODE 1: AN INTRODUCTION "Urban Development is an outdoor art project, the objective is to provide the platform for collaboration between artists across a wide range of mediums and stages in career. The project centres around street influenced mural work but will also draw in a variety of creative’s, both emerging and established. The concept is to think outside the conventional confines of graffiti, fine art, sculptural work, performance and beyond, blurring the lines and creating a dynamic and interesting project worthy of international attention. This Episode introduces the project through brief interviews with the founding collective, Berst, Askew, Snek and Tim Webber. Stay tuned for regular updates including profiles on collaborators and the murals progress."

We are proud to announce the launch of a brand new graffiti magazine from London, available for pre-order NOW from www.keepthefaithmagazine.com, and hitting the shops in March 2010.
Keep The Faith is a brand new magazine documenting the hardcore side of London's graffiti scene, a scene shrouded in secrecy, but one which is still very active. We have acquired over 100 trains from some of the most active crews and writers in London during the past 5 years, showing that there is still a thriving undercurrent in our beloved city.
London is one of the toughest cities in Europe for painting right now, with the authorities trying every method possible to shut graffiti down, there is an atmosphere of fear and paranoia that has led to many writers working in secrecy, refusing to release their photos and closing down most channels of communication.
For so many of the capital's crews to contribute to one magazine project during the current climate is very rare, which is why this magazine is so special.

Winter is the coldest season of the year. This is how to stay on top of the game. Painting in -10, these tips are handed down from generation to generation.

Step 1. Place your spraycans on the heater, the day before... or speed up the tempo, if you're in a hurry, use the toaster!! Make sure you remove the plastic donuts and nozzles (no melting). Keep an eye on them at all times!

Step 2.Wrap it up in a towel, put it in a plastic bag and close.

Step.3 Put in your backpack and you're ready to face the cold weather outside.

Step.4 Keep your bag off the ground, to avoid the cans getting colder faster!!! Use a milk crate if possible(to place your backpack in).
