Ironlak BBQ Burners
The Ironlak BBQ Burners is an ongoing series of events that began in Australia and New Zealand in 2007, with a handful of European and American cities added to the roster in 2010. In each city Ironlak invites a handful of respected local writers to have a relaxing day of painting, a few beers and a BBQ. It's not so much a public event, but rather a chance for the local writers to get together for a paint.
Thanks to all the local writers who make these events as dope as they are. Thanks to our friends in each city that help to faciltate each event, and thanks to all that come down and support.

BBQ Burners – Adelaide, Australia - October, 2012.
Adelaide played host to its 3rd BBQ Burners event late last year, and having previously been attended by many of the still active writers from Adelaide’s golden era’s, this year was about having new blood and giving back to writers that hadn’t gotten down on the wall previously, with a special emphasis on the guys that are currently getting up.
We got down to the wall for a relatively early start, and being Adelaide, it wasn’t long before the Coopers Pale’s started flowing. Adelaide always treats this event more like a reunion than anything else, with numerous heads from Adelaide’s graff and Hiphop scene rolling through for a beer, snag and some old war stories during the day.
Many laughs were had, old times reminisced and new connections made, and somehow in the midst of that, some cool pieces managed to get painted as well.
Cheers to all who turned out to be a part of the day, special thanks to Biz on the BBQ,
Vans the Omega, Justin at Clinic 116, Da Klinic and all the artists who turned up to rock it: Zed, Thorts, Palms & Goaties, 4U2C, John E, Epyk, Hesin, Kophen, Ayer and Verse. - Old Man PALMS.

BBQ Burners – Perth, Australia - September, 2012.
"We cranked up a dodgy little fire in the back of a ute and fed the boys some hotdogs and beers. Some very nice pieces were made this day by the local hoons and I think everyone enjoyed themselves." - TUES.
Thanks also to all the local writers involved, you guys put together a solid wall.
BBQ Burners – Buenos Aires, Argentina - December, 2011.
"The sun came out in all its glory for Ironlak BBQ Burners Buenos Aires, which meant that the pieces were scorching as well as everyone without sunblock.
Our Argentinian distributor put on an amazing BBQ (Asado) of Beef, Sausage and way too many beers (this is never a bad thing).
There were plenty of locals kicking back and enjoying the sun, food and conversation and before we knew it the sun had started to go down. Big shout to DANO, NACHO and whole crew from Bueons Aires!" -Tues.
Thanks also to all the writers involved, you guys put together a solid wall.

BBQ Burners – Valparaiso, Chile - December, 2011.
"Palms and I landed in Santiago around 7:00am direct from Miami overnight, a little exhausted but completely pumped to tackle our first stop in South America. We went directly to the BBQ spot to meet an enthusiastic bunch of writers, scallywags and assorted beautiful South American types. After some brief intros everyone was keen to hook in and belt some colour onto this drab underpass, so that’s what we did.
There had to be more than 40 people painting both sides of the tunnel, with Semis coming through at 100kph and little footpath space, it was definitely an intro to South American road etiquette (or complete lack thereof).
A fun day was had by all, the food was amazing - cooked right there on the road in a drum, true local styles. Hopefully we can organise another BBQ soon, can't wait to hang with you crazy Chileans again!!" -Tues.
A big thanks to all the writers involved:
Exelik, Wason, Coas, Asien, Nao, West, 3Kis, Saxe, Eney, Painters, Brick, Dees, Teo, Sba, Jaker, Degra, Sgwor, Zade, Antisa, Sirk, Bops, Juem, and Karim. Also a big shout-out to DaKing!

BBQ Burners – Florianópolis, Brazil - December, 2011.
As part of their tour of the Americas last year, TUES and PALMS journeyed to Ironlak BBQ Burners in Florianópolis to join more than 30 writers hailing from cities all over Brazil. Dedo Sujo did an amazing job organizing a huge sharehouse/mansion for all the writers and a massive 3 day wall in the heart of the beautiful island city.
When the writers weren’t painting, they had the awesome opportunity to build, swap sketches, play pool and generally enjoy hanging out. This unprecedented level of planning led to a great wall and we're sure all the writers involved had an amazing time and can't wait for an opportunity to do it again.
It was inspiring to see so many writers who had never met from different cities, styles and backgrounds come together with such a friendly, positive vibe. Massive respect to all involved:
San, Kico, Diant, Muk, Fhero, Palms, End, Jotape, Bigod, Fred, Tim Tchais, Holie, Baycroc, Swk, Asno, Valdi, Vejam, Vespa, Rizo, Wow, Valen, Guspe, Bolacha, Ph, Buyu, Enxame, Lelin, Tues, Bagre, Rz, Wags, Kajaman, Añao and Dake.

BBQ Burners – Boxtel, The Netherlands - October 2011.
Here's a report of the aptly named "Wet BBQ Burners Holland," courtesy of Chas:
"Originally the Dutch Ironlak BBQ Burners was supposed to take place in Nijmegen, but due to some really ugly weather forecasts we thought it wise to change venues. We headed to this big old abandoned railway tunnel under Holland's most busy highway.
"The soon to be Mrs. Chas chef'd the BBQ and made sure all meatlovers and the minority of veggies painted with full bellies whilst Rems and Puaks emptied most of the beer stock.
"On one side of the tunnel the Clowns From Hell (Ces53, Mr. Mister, Dr. Chess), Daddies Nasty Sons (Mega, Romeo) and Nyse & Sunk were blazing... On the other side LoveLetters (Puaks, Does, Nash, Chas), Rems, Poen and Sign were burning. As night falls early in October most of us finished our pieces in the dark, but that could also have something to do with the beers...
"The constant raining outside the tunnel proved that it was a wise decision to go to a covered spot. Ironlak performed really well under these wet weather conditions..Unfortunately the background roller paint didn't. Due to high humidity the wallpaint never really dried and during the night it started dripping over our pieces.. Luckily some of us got to take some good photo's before nightfall... Others were less lucky." -Chas.
Big thanks to Mr and (future) Mrs Chas and all the writers mentioned above who held one over the weather.
This BBQ Burners is a true testiment not only to the Dutch ability, but also to their spirit.

BBQ Burners - Auckland, New Zealand - November 2010.
A true testiment to the spirit of the Kiwi's, we arrived in Auckland for this year's BBQ Burners to find a massive wall with the instructions; "you must paint all the way to the top." With not much time for beers the local writers spent most of the day up and down ladders, completely focussed painting.
Well done New Zealand, we look forward to the 2011 event.
Thanks to all the writers. Wert159 (Russia), Reko, Askew, Oche, Snek, Kerso, Shake by Stray, Bles275, Holie (Brazil), Saves, Stray by Shake, PhatOne, Finer, Lady Diva, Brato, Royl by Jaes (USA) & Vents.

BBQ Burners - Perth, Australia - September 2010.
Summer was in full swing when we arrived in Perth. It was fucking hot, the flies were buzzing, the dust was blowing and the beer was certainly the best way to cool down. The locals hooked in like troopers and got the job done well before the sun went down, which left plenty more time for a beer and a laugh.
Thanks to Aimee and Drew at The Butcher Shop for all the help getting this year's BBQ off the ground.
Cheers to the writers: Ayre, Daek. Fecks, Tues, Biek, Amok, Deevs, Loser, Wasnt, Fedup by Whot, Dabue & Pawk. Yoyo, Prom, Keos, Tuna & Roten.

BBQ Burners - Adelaide, South Australia - October 2010.
In 2007 Adelaide was home to the first ever Ironlak BBQ Burners, so it seemed only fitting to begin 2010's Australian Ieg of the BBQ tour back in Adelaide.
Adelaide turned on a perfect day for its second BBQ Burners. We enjoyed having a nice mix of old school Adelaide legends and more recent talent side by side, enjoying the sun, stories and doing justice to Adelaide's reputation of epic beer consumption.
Special thanks to Trent Turner from graffcentral.com for coming down to document the day and to Vans the Omega for all his help in putting on another successful event.
The writers: Perish, Adlib, Nails, Boyle, Stoops, Sluts, Sevn, Plier, Getos, Muger and Tense.

BBQ Burners - Amsterdam, Nederland - July 2010.
"This was the last real summer day in Amsterdam. The weather was roasting, the BBQ was out and the boys got together for a good day's painting and drinking beer (maybe too much beer). Although the we didn't end up getting to paint together on one long wall as we originally planned, we found a nice bridge to paint under."
Primary people involved on the day...
JAKE, SKEE, REGAL, TWICE, GEAR, LAZEE, FERMS, TOPNOTCH, HIROCK, REN, MICKEY.
BBQ Burners - København, Danmark - June 2010.
Stop three on our EU Ironlak BBQ Burners tour landed us at Sydhavn Hall of Fame in Copenhagen, Denmark. It was a really fresh day, in a really fresh city. Music was pumping, Red Bulls were flowing and the BBQ resembled a flame-thrower at one point (don't trust Aussie's near a European style griller - too much fluid).
Thanks a million Copenhagen! Reks, Toms, Crima, Damn, Eezi13, Gebes, Kats, Sabe, Bates, Teis, Date, Mexo, Smag, Kers, Money, Dtale, Mone and thanks to Storm and co. for setting things up.

BBQ Burners - Berlin, Deutschland - June 2010.
We drove through the night from Warsaw and arrived in Berlin, Germany for our second European Ironlak BBQ Burners. The crisp Berlin morning was quite a contrast to the hot sun in Poland, but the overcast, rainy weather didn't deter the locals from getting down to business and knocking out a nice uniform wall, finishing up as the sun chased the rain clouds away, just in time to finish the beers. We even had a bunch of Aussie's show up and keep us company. Thanks to Cren for his help organising this.
Word to Berlin.

BBQ Burners - Warszawa, Polska - June 2010.
As we rolled into Warsaw, Poland it was an amazing summer's day. The weather was nice, warm and a perfect day for beer and painting. This was to be the first Ironlak BBQ Burners event in Europe and it ended up being one of the biggest to date, with around 30 writers painting, rather than the usual 10-15. The venue was an old Wodka factory and it was super cool, there was to be a rave later that night so the place was filled with planes, tanks and army jeeps. Thanks to all the Warsaw writers for a dope vibe and thanks to Concrete Mag for hooking everything up.
